Message But the skills and other equipment needed to take advantage of it is beyond the capabilities of 99% (yes I pulled that number out of my ass) of owners.

That 200 lbs might save you a couple 10ths of a second at a drag strip, but there are better ways to make up that time than to sacrifice the t-tops on a daily basis.

Unless you're building a purpose-built gutted car, then it's silly to think that a slicktop is going to get you anything meaningful.

And anyone making the claim that slicktops were not the base model are in denial.
